hi all, new to this forum... happen to come across this topic...im also currently flying wif jal, hope those trying for the next intake get in. girls below 158 dun fret... they take in girls 157ish as well.. just depends on who measures your height on the day itself.
speaking jpnese is a bonus, however be prepared to work in a very jpnese environment. benefits are not as good as SQ. also, as singaporeans JAL isnt our own airline, thus sometimes japanese may seem more *superior* than us. Complains from us may not be accepted also.
however, flight schedules are more lax than SQ. 8 off days excluding standbys.for JAL, flight patterns last 1 week each time, unlike SQ, they have many turn ard flights.
Gdluck to those trying end of this mth. Be brave!! dun get intimidated by the interviewers.. there will be 5 to 10 interviewers depending on which interview u attend. interviewers will ask for jpnese speech if girls have jpnese knowledge. no need to volunteer speech yourself.

same as sharkie!
i just wish to check with you, as sharkie said that we should do some self-intro in japanese and i didnt tink tat as a great idea too cuz it seems a bit snoobish to me.... but wat do u tink? should we or should we not? as u told us tat japanese do not like ppl who dont know e language n speak like they know it well...
anyway also to e hopefuls out there, anyone got a call from JAL yet? cuz i just came back from overseas n hope i did not miss e call.... or maybe do they send the invitation by mail instead? could somebody enlighten me on this? thanks!!!
It is definitely better for u to use japanese if you can. They do prefer it actually. Most of the girls who dunno any japanese also learn some basic ones for self intro during interview. Shows you are interested in jap culture. They send invitations by mail only. No email, no phone calls except for the medical check round (final). Anyway, I dun think many girls applied this time. A week ago, they only received about 100 applications. So unless all came in at the last min, not much competition =) BTW, sorry to tell u all this, but they rejected those above 25.
hi there sharkie.... hey thanks for ur advice once again.... alright i really hope i will be selected for e interview n m keeping m fingers crossed right now! hey, colleen.... thanks for checking tat out.... so i guess as sharkie said we should all be paying attention to our email accounts! gd luck to all!!!

Wow 100 applications? I guess there will be alot of last minute candidates. It's sad that they are hiring only 15 this time, so I think 100 is enough. haha.
Anyway, does sg based JAL crew fly to other asia pacific zones like China, Korea, or even Australia?

SIN base used to fly to Aussie. But they gave the route to JALways. There are rumors that we might fly china domestic routes soon, but not confirmed. Not sure abt the rest. SO far, its just USA mainly

Thanks lot sharkie,
another question, can you share with us what the benefits of JAL crews are like? e.g. flying benefits, dental etc.
Do they provide crews with free makeups or maybe makeup/ grooming allowance?
Sorry for the dumb questions, I'm just very curious.

wow, this is like so sad. We don't get free tickets. Well, just hope that I'll get it, this is like more important. Haha. Thanks alot!
Anyway, does JAL pay higher basic for higher qualifications since their requirement is like 3 Os, do they pay higher basic to crews who have diploma, etc?

Even SQ doesnt give free ticekts anymore I heard.
Everyone is paid the same, even if u are PHD holder.. Have to be very humble even if u have a degree etc or they will give u the "talk" abt how everyone is the same there.

Ha, GOOD! I'm just a 3Os grad anyway.
Thank you SOOO much for all the replies.
I think I'm just too excited about the recruitment, JAL doesn't recruit often, and I get all nervous and excited.

I'd check whether for the Japan job you could do it on a contract basis rather than a standard employment contract.
BTW well done on doing two jobs...
