Lol! No! That uniform is just a promotion for the food they were introducing at that point of time. Was it the Chicken Foldover? I forgot. Tiger Airways was in the picture coz of the cheap flights.

Cuz i heard you have to pay your own expense & own meal. Somemore they also dont provide you luggage too. Roughly how much is the pay which you bring home?

queenie-me wrote: yes you are right... they do not recruit male cabin crew. [ONLY females onboard]
No secrets! yes, no meal, pay own expenses. But almost every job in singapore is the same. For me, tiger airways is an experience for me. Right now, i am going thru the one month training at STC. Yes, they don't provide luggage [SIA don't provide luggage].

Roughly, it depends how hard you work. The more flight you do the more you get.

THEY ARE VERY STRICT WITH PUNCUALITY!!! Female candidates have to be at least 1.58cm [SHORTER then that will be sent home immediately]. Normally they are looking for younger girls, but just give it a try. You might never know!!! I think this time only 40 will make it.

Interview rounds are really simple:

1st round -
Introduction
Passage reading
Short conversation

2nd round -
Just sit and listen

3rd round -
trying of uniform
CONFIRM!!!

During first round, you got to be well spoken and should NOT be over confident or too quiet. Speak well when it comes to your turn.
If you have any more doubts, do let me know! gladly to answer your questions.

Yup totally agree with you. I thought that TigerAir uniform is so nice. Then that will be better. But it turn out not to be exactly like the TV commercial. By the way, are you also going to apply for TigerAir?

chai ching wrote:Oh i see. Is this your first time working at TigerAir? Other than this airline, what other airline have you ever apply or have you been ask to go for an interview by them? By the way, i heard that TigerAir training is just one month only. Is it really true? Yup totally agree with you. Just treat it as a experience for us.

Though we have no other experience. But once we have gain the experience from other airline. That will noy be shouldnt a problem for us if we want to apply for other airlines. Am i right? But im now 23 already. I know that its really no harm for trying it.

But still also have to depend my luck also right to see whether will i be able to get selected and will they call me. How do you know that about 40 will make it? That mean when the 1st round interview finish. We will surely able to get in 2nd round interview or have to see our performance.

But if like say, for the 3rd round of trying uniform, what if some of them cant fit it in. Then how? Really sure that all of us are able to fit in the uniform?

Did tried other airlines but no CHANCE. Tiger airways is good enough to gain experience. YES IT'S ONE MONTH TRAINING. [need to stress alot of things to your brains before the test] which is like 2 weeks after your training starts.

Doesn't mean tiger airways is a budget airline and you will learn less then SIA. [YOU ARE TOTALLY WRONG, that's what I thought in the first place]. You will be learning alot about the airplane safety procedures. Well, most people think that stewardess are just a high-class waitress on air [totally WRONG]. You have to be totally prepare for the training and the work environment [working with all FEMALES is tough].

Man o man there are a few shockers running around :???:
How good-looking do you want them to be?
Good-looking doesn't mean they are well being enough for the job.
[YOU MIGHT NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT...]
But for your info, not all SIA stewardess are GOOD-LOOKING either. Some of them have square face, flabby arms, small eyes, over-lapping teeth and stuck-up ATTITUDE. [As on how I experience at the training center]

Well said Queenie, personality is more important than looks.

Not in an antagonistic way but excuse me Plavt umnnnnnnn...... what are you doing in this board? From your other posts does not come across to me that you will be interested in this particular line of work. For whatever reason, you come across as a male person to me.

I am a little taken aback by all the threads in this career section. It seems that airhostessing is the number 1 choice of career in SG. I see SIA, tigerair, emirates air, jetair. You name it, all the airs are out here.

What is it about air hostess? Is it really as desirable as you gals are saying. See, I am a stay-home-mom who is a little bored with her life and looking for a part time job.

Sorry for the hijack but just couldn't help myself .

NOT AIR HOSTESS [SWEETHEART]. That's the reason why most of the people don't get it.

Stewardess don't only serve on air. We have to go thru just like how the pilots go thru when it comes to safety procedures in an aircraft. - That will explain why we were given a huge file of manual just to be a stewardess. I don't think that huge file of manual only consist on how to serve the passenger with a smile [OF COURSE NOT]

It's a number 1 choice because it's challenging and not all are cut out for the job. It needs people who have great personality and the right attitude [doesn't need to be beautiful because the wonders of make-up are wonderful enough to cover some hideous faces to become beauties]

Well actually there used to be only 1 thread but people keep making new ones for each airlines. It's not really a number 1 choice of career in SIN. There are just more aspiring flight attendants in this forum.

It's really the individual's decision to be what they become. Flight attendants not only serve you on air but they make sure you are comfortable and safe. They go through days of trainings on safety alone. After the end of the training, not all of them graduate. Some may even drop out of class because of the intensive training. Glamour is not everything.

Plavt,

See that's why I love SGean. You can ask them a very simple question in a tongue-in-cheek manner and they will answer you with full earnst and sincerity. Not only is SG super-peaceful, SGeans are super-serious too. How can I not love them!!!

Queenie and Singaporegrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrl,

Thank you very much for responding. I was being cheecky and teasing the other posters about their obsession over airhostess job. I am a stay-home-mom to two lovely girls and live in California. I am not looking into becoming an air hostess. I may have the look (tongue-in-cheek) but am probably too old for it.

I am not mocking or belittling you gals. See, the weather is cold and dreary  where I am at and this forum adds a lot of cheers and laughter to my live .

Queenie, does that explain the faces of the air-hostesses that I see on SIA flights (tongue-in-cheeck of course) :D ? Btw, you are very good with make-up and you look real pretty in your avatar  .

Cheers to everyone and may you land the job of your dream.
