Expat looking for a way to get past the HR departments

I have been looking for work in Singapore for 4 months with very little joy. I have applied for lots of jobs and I have had absolutely no response. I have NEVER had a problem in the past finding work...in many different countries. I am well qualified, I have great experience and skills and I really want to work.

Is there a trick to get past the HR departments here? Do I have to include (or exclude) something from my resume to increase my chances???

Change your name to be Chinese...?

Most people find their jobs through their personal connections, not through the front door. See if you can find anybody you know on (eg) LinkedIn and work the network.
