Hi, Im a newbie here and I am not sure if the qns Im gonna ask had been asked b4 but I really hope someone can really assist me or I m really demoralised in going for interviews for SIA already.

Where can I find information on the destinations on where Silkair flies too. After joining Silkair, since its a subsidary of SIA, will I be able to do a transfer after like working with Silkair for about 2 - 3 yrs if I managed to try and get in.

Izzah, i was with another candidate during that interview, she was told to wait after her 1-1 interview. Shortly after they told her on the spot that she was not selected. Really dunno how they work.

You can find it on silkair website... duh..

Next Question, basically it all words from the mouth. I know a crew who only gets in SQ after almost 5 years of service. 2-3 years - yeah right!
It's not in the contract stating that you will/can be transfer after a certain years of service with Silkair. Still, You have to be one of those people who really "angkat" the seniors to the maximum.

Alright, I get what you mean. 5yrs... wow... ok...

If I try out Silkair next recruitment and managed to get in, my concern is since I am still studying part-time, will it be tedious since its all turn-around flights? Since I do not know how are the flight schedules like.

Best thing to do is: Go for the interview.
If you don't get in, your worries are over about the flight schedules clash with your studies.
If you get in, discuss with them which days and date you are studyin - that depends if ONLY the management approve.

BEST ADVICE: If I were you, I wouldn't want to join an airline and study part-time too. Cause the flights and crew might just make your day worse or good. - Depends. Finish your studies first then, join an airline. That way it's hassle free and no worries about assignment etc.

:???: :???: From what I can make of your post it seems you want to have your cake and eat it! :o Tedious? Is that going to be a concern if you are studying part time? Studying would be far more difficult if you were flying internationally. Regarding studying; are there no online or home study course available in Singapore? (do state what you are studying, I might have a solution).

Every year in Silkair, they will have an opening for SIA transfer. It is open to all Silkair crew who have served for at least 3 years. Your files must be clean and you MC rate should be almost 0% throughout the 3 years of service. Then you'd be guaranteed a transfer. But I doubt for the whole 3 years in Silkair, you'd have only 10 MCs. Most people have more. Haha!

Thanks for all the advises...

Hahaha... you are right singaporegrrl... I think I will really have to pray hard if I don't want to fall sick... lol...

Thanks Queenie... I was actually comtemplating to join... I went for the SQ interview last Sunday... but get more demoralized after trying like almost 4 times which I seriously do not know what are they actually looking for in a candidate. Which most likely depend on one's luck.
Maybe you are right. I should probably try only when I finish my studies in about another 1.5 yrs time.

I haven tot of Silkair only after this recent SQ interview, cos I know Silkair only does turn-around flights... but I guess I am thinking of other alternative airlines that are based in SG already.

Well Plavt, I am actually currently studying in UniSIM, part-time night classes which will only have a maximum of up to twice of week of lessons. But the tedious part 'might' be the group projects which will only have one per module that are examinable and a quiz. Another kind of module would be those with no exams but having to have a group project and an individual project and quiz.

* Is there anyone who could share with me on the allowances and annual leave through PM?? I just needed to plan my path of route on what I should really do.

In that case as Queenie-me suggests you are better off competing your studies first unless there is a correspondence course available.

Hmmm.... 'tedious'.... well... guess is the maybe the meeting up session part... I study like as though not studying at all.... But probably more time-off is needed for those modules which are exam based.....

Hmmm.... oh well.... then I guess I should listen to you and Queenie's advise....

Shall hold on this career thought of mine then...
Sigh....

Mabchewy,
Sad to say, I met 2 ladies who were so nice to chat with at the interview. But don't know why, they eliminate 8 girls at my batch. Surprisingly, coz my batch had girls frm Qatar and Cathay. But they were not selected. So left with me and the other who latter didn't pull through the 1-1 part. Thats why I was hoping to find someone here so i can tag along with on the 4th.
Best of LUCK to all ladies who made it!!!
