Hi!!! I am soo soo sooo happy to find an active topic that i can ask questions! haha!!!

I realli noe nuttin about silkair so should my qns asked be too obvious, please bear with it. :)

I am interested in being a female pilot but i realise the inconviences that a lady may face being one; like not being able to go home often esp when i haf my own family! but jus now when i was browsing through this topic, i am so happy to see about going home everydae! haha!!!

so being a cabin crew/pilot for silkair, u get to come back to singapore everyday?

what about the timing of the flights?

What is the average pay for a pilot in silkair?

I wish to fly in the sky but oso wan to go home everyday. Hope silkair allows mi to do so

Lets start with your question of going home everyday. Yes u will be practically home everyday, unless u fly the Indian flights, which will depart late evening, and bring u home early next morning at about 6am. So far, i have been only getting 1 or 2 of such flights per month. And FYI, we fly average 3.5 times a week, max of 100hrs/mth. If u do the maths, u will know that u will have lots of time idleing at home.

Reporting time for flights can be early in the morning like 6am if u are a captain, and (unofficailly) 5am if are still a 2nd officer. As mention, our lastest flight are usually those that depart for India at night.

BTW, u would have to put off starting a family, cos you are not suppose to get pregnant within your contract period i.e 7years from your appointment as 1st officer. If not, there are some penalties. So if u take into consideration that u have yet gone for an interview, so minimum, you are looking at 10 years from now, when u can start a family.

Average pay for pilots? I suggest u get throught the interview, ATPL exams, clear your solo and flight training before you starting thinking abt $. I feel it shouldn't be your main priority to be be a pilot. But i can say, its comfortable, and should place u at least in the top 20 percentile of the population. But once we are here, no one will feel that they ever earn enough rite ha ha

Cabin crew training and bond are shorter. U have to ask the gals here, I remember them saying that its either 1 or 2 years.
