Big Pimple

Post by zura09 » Fri, 24 Nov 2006 3:53 pm

Hi I'm a newbie here.. I be going for the walk-in on 8 Dec.. any1 else going on tat date too??? I oso kinda worried though.. having alot of breakouts on my forehead... and I gt this BIG pimple on my cheek (seems like taking 4ever 2 heal)...[/quote]

Hi Joyce,
Do not worry about the big pimple on your cheeck. it will heal by itself.or you cantry mixing lil tamarind seeds with water until it becomes a paste. Jst dap it on the pimple, do it for 2-3 times a week. you will the pimples will dry and gone after that. leaving no mark. it works on me..

Hi Corine 143,

Thank you so much for the advice.I couldnt reply to your pm coz i have not post enough messages yet. I just cant wait to go for any cabin crew interviews. I know i will less likely to be accepted for my braces. However, i will try my luck again this time around. Thanks once again.. :)

Ways To Earn Points

Post by j0Yce » Fri, 24 Nov 2006 8:05 pm

K zura, hv added u into MSN.. By the way, wat will u be wearing on that day?? So wat are the stuff to be expected during the walk-in interview? Do we have to try the uniform on tat day too?

By the way, i heard tat sometimes the interviewer will pay attention to the nails as well. So for the gals going on tat day, do spend sm $$$ on manicure.. Perhaps can help earn sm points :)

Dear Joyce,
I am not sure about what to expect during the interview.coz it is gonna be my first time to attend such interview held by silkair. but it wud be good if we were to know more about silkair.. so we can be prepared to answer their questions.. About what to wear... hmmm.. i guess ill be wearing office wear.,. maybe a brown top and white skirt.. not sure.. whether is it appropriate for the interiview.. what about u?? any advise by the others??

Hmmmmm..manicure sounds great.. it wud be nice to get the nails done before going for the interview...... Lady R sure.. we can go together.. shall we go on the 8th dec??

When I went for the walk-in interview in August, I wore a white blose and jeans. For this round, you just need to be neat. Formal office wear is optional. The most important thing for this round is to outshine yourself.

Show enthusiasm and don't be afraid to promote yourself. Bring a smile to everywhere you go. It is a very important matter in this company. Some of us got a scolding just for not smiling. Do smile even to the people at the registration counter coz they are staff as well (usually they are current crew).
Do make sure that you have descent make up on. Don't have to be too detailed. They still want to see some of your original self. You may scare the interviewers with your outstanding make up. Put on some concealer if needed.

You don't need to go for a manicure for this round. They won't be screening you in detail yet. Just make sure they're in good shape. If you have long hair, you may have it up in a ponytail. Don't have to be in a bun. You just need to have it neat.

I'm predicting if you are successful, you will start training in February. So for those with braces, don't be afraid to attend the interview coz I had a friend who went through all rounds of interview with her braces on but told the interviewer she would be removing her braces before training starts. She got through.

For the walk-in, the first round I went through was a group interview. In a group of 10, we sat in a round table with 2 interviewers walking around, assessing us, while one-by-one we introduced ourselves and talked a bit about ourselves. A simple example would be your name, age, occupation, hobbies, why you want to be FSS and why SilkAir. Sometimes long introduction may not mean you have better chance in getting through, unless you have a lot of interesting facts about yourselves. I have mine short and interesting. It is also important to have eye contact, not only to the interviewers but to the rest of the applicants as well. In my group, only 4 of us got through the next round.

We then had to wait for the next round the very same day. It was a one-to-one interview. You may want to repeat what you have said in the first round if you want to. Mostly general questions like about yourself, hobbies, occupation, your personality, your family background, your education background, why you want to be FSS, why SilkAir, etc. Don't be too nervous. Just talk as if you're introducing yourself to a new friend. Treat it as if it's a chatting session coz we are required to do public relations on board so they want to see how stressed up you are while talking to a stranger. Just remain calm and you'll do fine. Of course, don't forget your smile.

You will be given a passage to read out loud. It may be either in round 1 or 2. They had it in round 1 for the June walk-in and round 2 for the August walk-in. You may be given the passage to practice while waiting for your group's turn to go in if it is read in round 1. I had mine in round 2 and I was required to read on the spot, without any practice. If you are nervous, just take the passage slowly and calmly. Don't rush on it. Just make sure you have it clearly.

I wish all the best to everyone going for this recruitment. I will share more on my experiences for the other rounds next time. Once again, good luck to all going and hope to see you up in the skies as colleagues.

I think those two are the must-ask questions, yet they're pretty difficult to answer.

Thank you for the information!

Hi Joyce,

Im so sorry. I forget that i cant take leave on friday. Happen that my assistant manager will be also on leave. He's clearing his annual leave also. So guess you and the other gals go ahead without me. Maybe i will be going. But will only go on 09 Dec 2006. I shall see how.

Though going together, that will be a good idea. Somemore, sat is really a crowded place. If can choose, of course, i will choose on fri instead of sat.
