hey guys, im new in this forum, finally registered myself in after following for so long. its been my dream since young to be an air stewardess. and i have already hesitated many time to go for any interviews. each time when i know of any opening, it will be of a wrong timing. and i give up the chance to live my dreams.
and again, fate plays a fool on me. im still very torn in between whether to go for this upcoming opening on saturday. i've just got a new job, and doing okay now.
i have a couple of questions and hopefully you guys can answer to make my decision a much easier one.
1) does anyone knows of the gross salary that we can take home each month? before and after training.
2) i read from one of the post that if i have a tattoo at my back, i will be out no matter how well i do at the interview. (my tat is hidden if its the current uniform)
3) how long is the training?

Please give me some advice too! im in such a dilemma that i have been thinking of it all day.

Thanks all of you guys and nice to meet all of you.
:)

Hi bbekandy,

Which day were you there for the interview? I was there on 1st day, reached around 11plus, perhaps we've seen each other there before? lol...

I kinda know what are my mistakes after the 2nd attempt...And to my surprise its like nobody went for the interview cuz when I was there, only few girls were around...uniform fitting was on same day and I noticed the recruiters (2 ladies for group interview) tend to pick girls who are bigger in size...

i was there on the 2nd day~ around 11am, it was soooo empty! i guess everyone's trying out for SIA.
3/10 girls was picked from my group.

one was an exSIA lady
one was quite plump
one was super skinny (with not very good english)

so i was quite baffled as to their choices! i think they choose 2 obvious ladies who WONT get through the second interview to make the one lady stand out more among the 3. ??

i even went back to ask what is the qualities im missing. the interviewer says that she cant say, but they are looking for the qualities below :

1) Way we carry ourselves
2) height
3) figure
4) facial feature

oh well, just try again for other interviews~
how about your experience?

Bbekandy,

Yeah the interview was really empty even on day1, I thought it would be more crowded on day 2 but since they got the uniform fitting all together...they probably knew response was going to be bad...

and about the experiences, I kept my smiles throughout the whole interview...Even tried to keep a good sitting posture by sitting still...haha sounds stupid but even though I did whatever I could, I still failed...

and according to your points:

1) Way we carry ourselves - I think I do well
2) height - I admit I fail cuz I'm only 1.53-4 in between but I got people telling me that girls who work in silkair are as short as 1.51cm!!
3) figure - I belong to the slim catergory not sure if they deem me as too thin even though I wore white to make myself look not too thin...and very impt point is that girls they pick all seems to be "M" - "L" sizes...I saw one girl who finished the uniform fitting, her size is almost like the interviewer's size.
4) facial feature - My face is abit squarish...maybe a lil' big and I don't have sharp features...lol...hence the reason they don't pick me?

Haiz...overall I think they really go more for SIZE factor cuz the last girl who came in, got all the stares from the interviewers and she was also among the 5 who got picked...the only smaller size girl who got in was around my size...

Sooo what do you think?

I'm thinking of trying multiple times sooo they remember me and eventually let me in...hahaha but seems like I gotta give up with the "height" issue...since you mentioned..
Never Say Never! :)

hihi!, me again hahaha weeeeel i also went for the silkair interview on the 2nd day around 1 plus and yes it was damn empty and most of the girls were rejects from the SQ interviews earlier that same day...none of my group was selected even though i would say most of us spoke very well, but have to say that there were quite a few 27 years old and above ladies in my group...and and i managed to sneak a peek at their checklist during the document checking and i saw in the columns (english proficiency, eyes, nose, smile, complexion, facial symmetry (????) - these are the ones that i managed to see before she whipped it away! haha
while waiting for the round 1 results of our group, saw only 1 girl doing the uniform round and she was coming back from the toilet after changing out of the uniform..she looked pretty sad so i guess its a no for her too?
got a silkair close fren saying they need lots of crews coz lots of them leave after july/aug coz of the bonus payout and she mentioned that the new crews are damn young abt 19,20 and how she doenst understand how some of them got chosen at all! haha

weird, but girls, keep on trying ok! dont give up!. i think over at silkair, they recognise my face already...:O

wow, didnt realise that silkair is looking for younger generations... =/
but seriously, if they need crew so badly, they should at least have more people pass through the rounds to at least get to know us better before deciding to cut us. Esp since the place is so empty (meaning free time) !
i had to wait for 1 hour + before they got 10 girls to send us in, that's how empty the place was.

anyway, we'll keep trying and keep each other posted! alright!!

haha bbekandy and bell consuela,

I got both of your sentiments exactly!! I guess all 3 of us failed Silkair, can just openly discuss about it and next time try harder! lol

Make sure that the Silkair ladies remember all of our faces! haha! Anyway, I also sent in my resume to Jetstar too since you all sooo hardworking, I must be too!

And thanks Bbekandy! Like my signature Never Say Never! That is why I keep trying...First time I failed, felt sooo dejected but after soo much failures I try to learn from it and when I fail, not sooo disappointed too~

Hahaha Bella Consuela, thanks for the encouragments too! Let's all work hard!!! I'm off work now...Couldn't reply fast...but let's keep each other updated in this forum kies!

=) Bubye and best of lucks to all of us CC hopefuls!!!

There will definitely come a day where we'll all fulfill our dreams of being able to fly!!!
Never Say Never! :)
