I left the OS system of my Sony Vaio note book in US, and now the notebook require the OS system... I went to Sony, and they told me I need the OS if not they cannot fix as I am now in Singapore and OS is different...
Anyone can kindly help me? I have recovered the files from the Hard Disk but cannot use the computer....
I do not travel with OS, and if crashes... like this?? How can I do?
PLEASE HEL ME...

Whatz the OS win2k or XP??
in case, u can borrow or get an pirated cd for the OS locally, but its most important that u remember the License key.

What's the actual problem with the notebook now?
I presume that it comes with system restore disks which are different to windows xp installation disks. If that's the case then you really need to get your hands on those Sony disks. It might be hard to get copies of them here if you need the US versions.
Alternatively you could reinstall windows XP from win xp disks and then download/install all the Sony software from their website (I could be wrong here - I've done it before with Acer and Toshiba notebooks though).

Thanks guys...
I do not have the original OS or Recovery System... that makes all difficulties now... is there any way, take the hard disk out, and change all OS to make it work????
Sony said, only way is to get the original Recovery System but it is not possible.... What can I possibly do? I have been using XP ..

You can buy windows XP, install it, download the sony software/drivers from their website, install those and you should be good to go.
Why do you want to take out the original HD? Is it faulty?
