Internet policy in singapoe?

One of my frd told me that in singapore you cant watch porn sites...and its a criminal offence..

is it true? can someone explain it please.

True, pornography is illegal in singapore.

But there are always places you can look if you try hard enough.

And it's hard to enforce, but if you surf a *lot* of the sites, you'll attract attention.

and what if you get caught surfing?

I mean do they keep a watch via ISP like singnet or starhub?

Forgot what the penalty/fine is. Might include caning. ;)

And yeah, the local ISPs are supposedly bound by law to keep an eye out, though realistically they don't as it's too much work. But if you spend all day surfing porn, you'll get their attention. And if you visit sites with really vulgar, descriptive URLs involving extremely illegal porn (children, bestiality, etc) then you're very, very likely to get caught (and many would hope you do get caught if you surf the examples above).

No. 1 rule in Singapore, do what you want but don't get caught. :cool:
