The Art of Prophecy as like many other paranormal phenomenon has fascinated mankind from times unknown. What is your experience and opinion on this issue?

And for those who know Sylvia Browne one of the famous psychic of modern times :

Predictions for Next 100 years - Sylvia Brown
Do you believe in her or you consider her a major bluff????
I like the 40th prediction - it will be fun if it is true.

40. Aliens will begin to show themselves in the year 2010, they will not harm us, they simply want to see what we are doing to this planet. They will teach us how to use anti-gravity devices again, such as they did for the pyramids.

What is interesting is that her predictions are not vague. she gives dates when these things will happen.

I like the people that predict the date of the end of the world & then pray that it doesn't happen - when it doesn't they say that their prayers have been answered - complete nutters

Funny you should bring this one up BG, I remember a book published by the Jehovah’s Witnesses (whom I have no time for) which appeared in Bath library in 1974, it was entitled 'Year of Doom 1975' prophesying the end of the world).

Psahw - teach us how women think - that would be one of the seven wonders and something that has eluded mankind since Eve and the snake did the boogie!

Funny how they can prophesise what will happen in years to come but can't tell you what numbers are coming up in the lottery. There is no evidence for any thing 'paranormal' ever having taken place...the James Randi Foundation has offered US$1,000,000 for anyone to visit their labs and prove any paranormal ability - these prophesisers, spoon-benders and the like should be queuing up - they are not... you do the maths
The most incomprehensible thing about the world is that it is at all comprehensible.

Have a closer look at the link provided by cheatercock, a good deal of what she is predicting are not predictions at all, a good deal of her ideas are already here albeit in their infancy (for e.g. it is no secret that cancer will ultimately be curable).

It is like a chicken or egg situation. The psychics may be wrong on some occasions but are not in all occasions. So if they are completeley absurd they should be wrong in in a significant number of cases. In not all situations they can guess. Why would so many people believe and make them millionaires. So the questions comes again "Is it possible that some parts of the future may be determined". Along many centuries subjects like astrology, palmistry, etc have survived giving an indication that some of the future may be predetermined.

No, it is not possible that the future is determined. People can guess/predict what will happen in the future but they cannot know what will happen in the future.

They are wrong much more than they are right and when they are right, they are generally right about vague predictions or predictable events.

...errr close but his name is Criss Angel I think.

13 Babies will be birthed in water all the time, with music, incense, and green and lavender lights.

At least it augurs well for future FA wannabes.[/i]

Where is Osama Bin Laden, Sylvia Browne ? Well that will be a natural question.

On a similar note CIA had actually a program for REMOTE VIEWING for a number of years. I think they discontinued after some years. For OBL they engaged some of the remote viewers but to no solution...although I do not know how successful they are in other cases. Yeah but there is one more similarity. The unemployed remote viewers have written books and books - some of them come with complete packages consisting of a number of CD-ROMS promising you to become remote viewers. Actually some of them, especially the the training videos are pretty costly, but a persons curiosity in paranormal events sees them off the shelves very quickly. Money minting also occurs here.
