I have been 3 X, with 2 teens and younger children and another mom twice and then again with my husband and 2 teens. Each time we stayed at Rimba resort. We were very pleased. The children enjoyed themsleves each time, although a bit bored when it was just the teens and there were no other kids around. We loved it because it was just us and another older couple. We had lovely walks, the kids and husband went scuba diviing. You can walk over to the other side to the other resorts and do things there as well. I guess it all depends on what sort of 'time away' you are looking for.
We enjoyed ourselves. No phones, no TV, no computers...it was Great!

Sibu, south of Mersing, 25 minutes by bum boat out east. From Newton Circus it's about a 2 1/2 -3 hour drive north through Johor and east.

Matney,
Is Rimba the nicest resort on the island? What are the other resorts and how do they compare?
