Studying in Singapore

Post by Marius » Mon, 30 Jan 2006 6:54 am

Hi,

I am a 23 year norwegian student finishing my bachelor degree in economics and finance in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Next year I would like to take my master (Master of Science) degree in either economics or finance in Singapore. Could anybody please tell me something about the different opportunities i have to choose from? As far as I know there are two possibilities; Nanyang Business School and National University of Singapore.

And one last question; I am used to pay around S$3,000 per month for my flat in Edinburgh. Were about in the city could I live and what kind of standard could i expect?

I am really sorry if I sounded like a wanker... I live with 2 others, and I plan staying with them in Singapore aswell!

Did that sound better?

For S$3,000 per month you can expect to live quite comfortably - rent is nowhere near as expensive as in Edinburgh especially if you rent a HDB flat. If the three of you are paying around GBP 1,000 p/m that works out to about GBP 330 each, or around GBP 90 per week - just enough to rent a small room in Edinburgh. You can rent a 4-room HDB flat (3 bedrooms with living room and kitchen) for well under $2,000 p/m, or a condominium unit for $2,000-$2,500 p/m. I am renting my 3 bedroom condo for $2,500, the bedrooms are pretty small but it's comfortable and comes with gym, swimming pool and so on. You'd never get that in the UK.
