When we lived in Singapore 20 years ago
two favorite places to eat were Chico's and Charlie's in Liat Tower and Farrer stalls on Farrer road, near Queens Road (in an HDB complex). Are either of those places still around?

Chicos moved to Orchard Parade hotel on Orchard Road. Don't know about Farrer stalls.
It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

Thanks! My parents were in Singapore in 98 and Chicos was still in Liat Towers. My husband was there for two weeks (just got back this weekend) and said he couldn't find it in the phone book. Not particularly interested in going, but just curious.
I'll have to find out about Farrer stalls. We went to church at International Baptist Church on Kings Road, just across the street, so we often went there for dinner after church on Sunday nights. Also, I went to school on Kings Road (the old Singapore American School high school campus) and we'd go to the stalls after school for a snack. We'd also go to the market before school to buy Gummy Bears to snack on.
I know the secretary at IBC is still there -- been there as long as I can remember. Maybe I can e-mail her and ask her. We'll be there in April for a week and I figure we'll go to church on Sunday. It's a different building and different people (except for one or two), but it should be interesting.

If you went to IBC, (which is newly rebuilt) then you are probaly talking about Wazou's and Eastlake? They are both still there.

I don't know if they had another name. There was just some flats on the corner and at the bottom was a market and some stalls. I don't know if the official name was Farrer Market and Farrer stalls or if that's just what we called them.
I knew the church had been rebuilt. It looks really nice. Of course, it's sad to think the old one is gone. While I was there we added on to it. We had to raise every bit of the money of ourselves. It was a huge job, but a huge accomplishment when it was done.

Such places wouldn't even have wifi... if you're referring to the strength of service, it really depends on how remote the place in question is.
