Home based garments business

Post by KY » Fri, 20 Jan 2006 4:58 pm

Hi,

I've been thinking about doing something with garments from home. Needed to know if such a business needs to be registered.

Had mailed Acra who told me to get in touch with URA who just got me more confused saying that my business falls under their small home business scheme, but I can't display clothes at my place. So, if I am doing something online, do I need to register it with someone, anyone....I see quite a few people out here showing their clothes on yahoo / ebay, so have they registered with the govt body out here?

Incase I hold an exhibition in one of the halls out here, do I need to be registered as a sole proprietor or can I just pay the rental fee for the hall n be done with it?

Pls help!!!

Thanks in advance
KY

Registering yourself as a business basically enables you to set up a bank account which lends you more credibility in the eyes of your clients - they can cross a cheque payable to your company account rather than payable to you.

if your selling to end users and doing it as a small scale business, doing it unregistered shouldn't be a problem.

Have a friend selling bags online and to friends and friends of friends. She's not registered as a business. "freelancer" she says.
Beagan agus a ra go maith
