Dear Rinny,

Don't feel low morale ok! I think lady luck is not by your side today. I believe you will make it the next time. Well, you came this far and you will be well prepared for the next recruitment I believe. Next month there might be an recruitment. But did they tell you that you might not be able to try for the next 6 months? This is what I heard from some others who tried but was rejected and was given the notice to try after 6 months later. But I might not be right though.

Best Regards,

From what I heard, there have been cases where they call you to come back for the interview. You'll be interviewing from where you were eliminated. Like there was one girl who was called up to go straight for the management interview coz that's where she failed. And I had a friend who was called up for the kebaya fitting coz that's where she was eliminated. But the catch is, they'll call 6 months after your last application. So if you hate the long process of interviews, I suggest you wait for 6 months? Coz most of the time, people go straight for the next recruitment and failed at the early stage instead.

Hi rainny..
Don't be disheartened. Try again. Maybe lady luck is not in your favour. I am sure you will be able to do it.

Hey Rinny, sorry to hear that you did not make it....If you're really keen on knowing the reasons, you could call them up and ask em' about it.No harm in doing so.Preferably the interviewer who interview you..Coz i have friends who called em' after being rejected...No use worrying about the reasons..Would suggest that you still keep an eye for any upcoming interview but also DO have a secondary plan. Sorry to be brusque here and it is a shame that you didn't get the job, take the advice given and phone to enquire why you didn't get it.

I'll paste my response in a similar thread - it's rough, but take it to heart.

I do wish the people here get their 'dreamjob', but what is annoying is the constant crap about 'lucky this and lucky that', 'don't listen to Plavt, Saint or Vaucluse - they're just trying to get you down' etc . . . .

You will not get a job with SIA, or any 'better' job by being lucky - that is total and complete bullshit and is a sad excuse for not preparing for your interview process. If you didn't get the job there is a reason. Analyse yourself and work on what you think let you down in the interview - FORGET ABOUT THE NOTION THAT IT WAS BAD LUCK. Something made you not pass the exam - work on it.
Presenation, language fluency, confidence, knowledge, swimming (NOT just FLOATING), meeting the minimum stated requirements etc . . .

The poster above is very at making assumptions without knowing a few facts. (Pity - he has some valid points but we aren't going to be friends).

More than one person has written to me asking for advice which where possible I have been happy to give. (What the poster mentioned doesn’t know).

I am considering starting a thread to suggest ways of preparing one's self (something I have done elsewhere on this board in a different way).

Those of you who are seriously interested in being a flight attendant let me know what you feel.

Plavt, pls see my PM and the other thread, I was not having a go at you, but mentioning that some people on this board negate what you write simply putting everything down to bad luck and the wrong dress . . .

If you were booted out frm the mgmt round or any other, think you would have known the names of the interviewers.Frm there,it shouldn't be too diff...If you don't know their names,well..... :?

Hi Rinny,

Very sad to hear that you are eliminated in the mgt interview round. so near yet so far.. how many girls were eliminated?

but quite strange, at one part, want to recruit more Cabin crew, on the another hand, rejected a few of them..

I have currently waiting for the mgt interview. Still no news. :(
just sent an email over.. still waiting for call or email reply..

do you like to share wat was asked? I am still in the midst of preparing..

will there be a lot of situational qns like "what are the problems that you encounter on board?"

OMG, SK - if you owned an airline (stretch your imagination a bit) and the applicants for jobs were below what you need, would you hire them anyway or keep trying until you find the good ones?

Use your head, girl.

(By the way, there is no such thing as 'I have currently waiting . . .' - should the airline accept poor English as well?)

Well, yes they need more crew this year but it's impossible to recruit too many all at once right? That was just the local recruitment and comes the Malaysian recruitment soon and followed by recruitment for other countries maybe. Bear in mind that in STC, they train SilkAir crews as well, not just SIA.

About the questions, I don't think you should limit yourself to a few questions. Try to think of many questions. They will definitely ask you to "describe yourself" and "why you wanna be FA". Sometimes they will ask like what you did to prepare you for the interview, your hobbies, how would you handle a difficult passenger and alot more. They might even ask what your favorite books/movies/tv show. You think it might be a weird question but your answer could show a little more of your personalities. Those were only some of the questions but don't limit yourself to them. Think of more questions that you think might be covered during the interview.
