Hi KoKo03,

am a season traveller so hope you find the below info useful:

Just to advise you on what is good to bring to cold countries.

For china (temp- to 8c)
1) thermal top n slacks for women (its a must)
2) a wool sweater
3) Jean or thick woven pants
4) Winter Top coat ( Wool/thermal Jacket)
5) A pair of gloves (its very useful)
6) A Wool scarf ( keep yr neck warm if you are not wearing any high collar top)
7) a pair of track shoes or boots (as long as it is comfy n covered shoes)

You can check out at coldwear shop. It may cost quite a bit of all these winter clothes but it goes a long way. You can buy 1 or 2 pcs first then when you go china, you can buy more there as it is really cheaper there and now, its winter sale anywhere there.

Enjoy your trip n have fun!

Hey there,

I live in Shanghai. It is pretty cold now but it does get colder toward the middle of February. It snowed February 19 2005.

At the moment we dont leave the house without:

Mid length cashmere coat
Jeans
Woollen jumpers or skivvy with medium weight jacket over top
Singlet or thermal top
Ski socks or long warm socks
Gloves
Scarf
Ear muffs (when an ice cold breeze is blowing). You can pick these up for 20rmb or $3SNG.

If you dont already have gloves or scarves you can get these just about anywhere for virtually nothing. Bargain hard and only pay what you want to pay. Divide any dollar value they throw at you by at least 4.

Hope that is useful.

redwinecider/Lovebug,

thank you both so much for the useful info, at least now i have a rough idea of what to bring.

Ok i stinge a bit, manage to buy a rather thick fleece jacket at OG last wk end @ $35.90(so happy as within my budget)and it can be zipped all the way up to the neck, borrowing another leather jacket from a friend of mine. And i've got sufficient thick overall to wear underneath.

Not getting any thermal wear, scarfs or gloves in Spore, :( (crossing my fingers i won't get frozen then)as Lovebug mention its so cheap to buy over in Shanghai at S$3 can get a pair of gloves and it can be found pratically anywhere on the streets, the cheapest gloves i can find in Spore still cost me S$13.90. I'm just gg to stuff my hands into my jacket pocket till i get my hands on a pair of gloves in SHanghai.

And also now i know to divide whatever amount they throw to me by 4 if not i'll just walk to another store to buy!! At least now i know i won't get chopped like a big carrot when i'm there! 8)
