Hi all,

Could anyone please recommend a 3.5-5 star hotel near a nice beach on Tioman Island? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!:)

Cheers,

Try looking here:
http://www.tioman.com.my/

I've only stayed at Panuba. It's very basic and the food is simple at best but it's so very beautiful and secluded. :)

They have a really good dive centre too but you have to take a boat to get to the normal backpackers area. You can trek through the jungle for about 20mins to get to the village if you want to sit in a pub or buy a T-shirt.

Hey ChrisB:)

Thanks for that! The resort at Panuba looks great but unfortunately they're closed til early Feb. Apparently many resorts will be closed til then because it's monsoon season. We're planning to go there CNY weekend (last wknd this month). I've checked out that website, but the resorts with high ratings don't seem to have good reviews, so I was hoping to get recommendations from people here.

Other thoughts?

Cheers,
N

Try Salang Village (Zaid's Place)
http://www.malaysia-islands.com/tioman-salangsayang.htm

or

Salang Pusaka Resort
These are bungalows and not resort but it is quiet and it is just 2 minutes walking to/from the beach. They also have a great seafood barbecue.

Hope it helps a bit
Good luck :D

NC, i was out there 15 years ago backpacking and had a great time. Now i have a wife and kids and would like to re-visit - but now i am looking for a more kid friendly and upscale place - but the Berjaya place looks stuffy. Please keep us posted on how you make out. Good Luck!
