LCD TV Which do you guys recommend?

Post by jokerknight » Wed, 11 Jan 2006 12:08 pm

Hi,

I have been scouting around for a 20" - 23" LCD TV for a while now and have been reading some reviews here and there. Different people/editors share different opinions, i wonder what you guys out there think?

I wanted it for my bedroom so don't want a BIG one which takes up too muck space and mounting it will be a mess.

My requirements are quite simple, 2 or more video/audio input and PC input. I plan for occasional DVD and Xbox gaming, TV/SCV viewing.

I have read up abit on LCD TVs and it seems like Samsung and Sharp are on top of my buying list. Some people recommended Toshiba, Panasonic and Sony. I understand that Sony use the same panel from Samsung because of their joint cooperations in manufacturing.

Appreciate if you guys can give me some input. Thanks :)

I had a 20" Sharp LCD TV in my bedroom in Japan, and I was extremely happy with it. I can't quite remember the model number (something like LC20K2), but it had RGB inputs for a PC too, but the resolution was quite low. I would actually recommend a 22" widescreen to you, as these are pretty much the norm now.

This was about 2 years ago, and I understand the resolution has increased considerably in the new Aquos range.

Also note that a majority of LCD TV manufacturers actualy use Sharp panels in their displays, so the only real difference in quality will be the processing of picture and colour information before it hits the panel.

Yes actually i have been comparing Sharp against some of the other Japanese model like JVC, Toshiba & Panasonic. I must say Sharp is an amazing product. The only problem i feel about them is that not all models comes with PC input. I actually tested the 22" that you mention, the image is quite cool but still very pricy compare to Samsung 23". But i know Sharp is a reliable bet.
