Re-Entry Permits

Post by sundaymorningstaple » Wed, 04 Jan 2006 10:47 am

For any PR's out there who may be under the false impression that you are only able to obtain 5 year re-entry permits (even though the form indicates 10 as well) I have some news for you.

This morning I made my semi-decade trip to Immigration to renew my re-entry permit which expired last May. While there I inquired if it was possible to get a 10 year permit. The officer did a check on her computer and said yes, no problem. So I was duly issued with a 10 year re-entry permit (should be the last one as that will put me into my late 60's).

While most of the poster here are all youngsters (chronologically speaking) it may be of interest to note that currently (subject to change I'm sure) once a PR passes 50 years of age, they are no longer required to document work, etc. I was rather shocked at the news as that was why I hadn't renew earlier as I was under-employed for 15 months.
