Dial-up speed

Post by flamme4 » Thu, 29 Dec 2005 10:07 pm

What is real speed of dial-up connection in Singapore?
I live in Croatia (Europe) and our dial-up speed is 3-4 Kbps. When I connect it says conencted at 56 Kbps, but it is only theoretical speed.
It is the same way in Singapore?

Note the difference between KBps and Kbps. Bytes/sec and bits/sec. 1 Byte = 8 bits (mostly anyway).

Hence at 56Kbps the most you can get is 7KBps, which is never possible, hence you find it's from 0 (haha) to 5KBps. I think you meant 3-4 KBps.

Sorry I don't know the answer to your question

yes, yes, I see what you mean. So I did some checking. And found out that my connection speed is 56 Kbps (Kbits/s) and max download never goes over 5 KBps. so my connection speed is as the provider stated.
Thanks for new insight
