I will relocate to Singapore in the beginning of the next year and I'm planning our budget now. I would appreciate if someone could help me with the following questions regarding transportation:
1. How much do you pay for rental car per month (all incl. except gas)? I would be fine with e.g. 5 years old, 1.3 liter engine, nothing fancy, just to transfer from point A to point B. Could someone recommend a rental service? is 1000SGD enough?
As we are 2 (a couple) persons, the other one would probably have to use taxi or buses
2. Taxis. How much do you pay for 13km trip in morning traffic/evening traffic, from/to the city? Are taxis readily available?
3. Public transport, especially buses (MRT is not running where we live). Is travelling daily with buses a nightmare or can one live with it? I would have to take 2 buses every morning and evening, each trip about 10km (i.e. 20km one way).
On a separate note, does it make sense to even rent a car or would it be more sensible to rely on buses and taxi- we are talking about period les than 1 year.
