College/Universities for Ex-Pats in Singapore

Post by CanesFan4Life » Sat, 17 Dec 2005 11:20 am

Hi everyone this is my first post. I am thinking of relocating to Singapore but have a couple of questions that I think you all might be able to answer. My wife and I have a 21 year old college senior (journalism major at the university of minnesota) who would like to come along and attend graduate school in Singapore. So the question is, are there any universities in Singapore that will accept ex-pat students? And the second question is if there is anyway to avoid the quarantine of our family pets (cat & dog). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Shouldn't this one be in the 'Relocating, Moving to Singapore' section?

Anyway, here's my 2 cents: Singapore has very high standard Universities (NUS is in Top 50 worldwide), should be no problem at all to get the 21 year old in there.

Pets in quarantaine? Anyone can help with that? No idea...

I don't believe quarantine is required here, but K1w1, our resident 'moving helper' could surely tell you.

University admission shouldn't be a problem, but she will, of course, be treated as an overseas student and liable for the same fees - which are miniscule compared to US fees.

Take the plunge, it's a great place.

(Seeing as you are from Minnesota, please let me tell you that I am sitting here in shorts, window wide open and just came inside from a nice 30 minute swim in our pool . . . oh yes - that's 365 days a year . . . Sorry, I can be a bit of a prat at times)

Thank you all for the responses. Now I'd better start looking for links to the local universities. By the way: Eric from the Netherlands my wife is Dutch. Are there any Dutch expat groups in Singapore?

hei guess what

The two main universities are

NUS http://www.fas.nus.edu.sg/cnm/graduates ... udents.htm

NTU http://www.ntu.edu.sg/sci/

Other private colleges offer degrees in collaboration with overseas universities.

And there's a sizeable Dutch community in Singapore - working with Shell, Philips, . . .

Yes, but luckily one can go days without seeing one . . .
(No offense to your wife - more a playful swipe at Eric)
