Any Dutch expats on this forum?

Post by Vincent.E » Wed, 14 Dec 2005 5:45 pm

Hi guys,

I'm moving to Singapore in January for 2 years.
Was wondering if there's a relaxed Dutch scene over here.
I'm 26 years old, and working in the 3D Animation Business.
Looking for some cool places to go like clubs, sportcentres,
countryclubs, etc.

Cheers,
Vin

Hi Vin,

here's another Dutchie. There is another one on the forum here as well, the Dude (humble as we are...) and I do know a few more outside this forum.

Read about the WNDC in the events section, join us on one of these drinking sessions on Wednesday nights and you'll be part of the scene here before you even spoke a word of Dutch... :D

Ga je zien!

groet,

Eric

Reuters, Singapore 16.12.2005

A poll was conducted today as to the feasability and need/want of having more Dutch nationals with names like Kees, Hans and Benno on the SingaporeExpats forum.
The resident Cheesehead (Kaaskop), a uniquely named Eric from the Netherlands, seems to believe that the advent of Dutch integration to this board will go down as easily as the Gereformeerte Kerk (Dutch reformed Church) in South Africa.

The cannabis-toking, klog-wearing, raw Hareng-swallowing hordes are to be expected on these shores any time now.
Parents are advised to lock up their daughters and female canines as well as seal rubbish bins effectively to dissuade the foreign invaders from maintaining a permanent presence here. (The aforementioned Eric ftN being an exception, of course)

Maybe not Dutch, but how about a bit of everything . . . :)

(and definitely not in Holland - luckily my area of work was Africa, Southern Europe and the Middle East while living there, otherwise I would not have seen the sun for 5 years . . . )

So Vaucluse are you all French or half and if so what's the other half?

My apologies GC, I was being flippant (tried to inject humour there but I didn't think it was funny myself)

The other half is from where this lovely scene is from :? :

My sentiments exactly. Had 24cm of snow 2 days ago and hallelujah, traffic came to a grinding halt although they're pretty good here with the snow ploughs. The sun is shining today with temperatures hovering in the low negative and No Snow which makes it quite bearable. :)

Hey Eric,

Vin

Clearly Eric likes it here and instead of MSN or email, try offering him a beer get-together.
Most anyone who knows dear Eric can answer your qustions:
- What he does here is fairly little . . . mainly coffee and beer get-togetehrs (see?)
- He loves it here
- The best website is to look at www.mom.gov.sg Surely your friends questions will be answered.

Tot kijk
