I don't think it is mentioned in the bible, however the Church has tried to enforce it as fundamentally sex is purely for reproduction in the eyes of the Church, so it is a good idea to be married first. You have to remember that religion is a way of controlling the masses, God being omniscient was always a good was of people not doing wrong - even if no one sees you God will, but now we have CCTV so someone does see you.

The Church does not allow contraception (although I have heard that the Vatican has shares in Durex) so sex before marriage is a sin. As is using contraception. Is the Church outdated? Should religion be used now as more a spiritual guide as opposed to a way of controlling the people? Has CCTV replaced the guilt of God watching?

Look at all these worms that have come out of the can!

it is written in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 & 1 Corinthians 7:1-2

"Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband."

Well, all I can say is that Heaven will be a really, REALLY, sparsely populated place by the time us lot get there!! And the ones who will be there will be watching our every move in case we do something 'sinful.'

Ahh, get a life. You think God is so unforgiving as to chuck out all those 'sinners' who fell in love and made their relationships physical? Even if they did so many times before they took the huge step of getting it down on that tiny bit of paper??????........

Ask yourself this, if it's a sin to have sex before marriage, and you believe it, then do you also believe that God will forgive sins? Cos that's what it says many times? And if He does, he will forgive you anyway, so it's best to be upfront and think, 'This cannot surely be a sin, because who am I hurting?'

It's true, some of the religious tenets we're asked to believe are population controlling mechanisms only.

And if you do believe this, does this mean that those babies born out 'of wedlock' will also be sinners and destined for Old Nick's Kingdom?

There are far more important religion controlled laws to follow, such as Thou Shalt Not Kill, or Honour Thy Father and Mother, etc etc.

God's got too much on his plate to pick on you just because you slept with the boyfriend.

And yes, I do believe in God, but mine understands me and knows that just because I may have slipped out of line on some tiny issues that the real reason for religion.....(caring for one another) .... is still uppermost in my list of religious 'to do's.'

The only things you should worry about is
a. Whether you want to (NO WAY do it if you don't, it's not mandatory behaviour )and are sure you're not being pressured into it.
b. Taking care of your sexual health, and your future plans for adding to the population.

These things were written for generations whose lifestyles and aspirations have no bearing on modern life. Some of the basic laws must still hold, such as the do not kill, steal etc....but I believe some are so archaic as to be dangerous. Or, more to the point, the interpretations of some of these ancient laws are ridiculous.

Oh, don't get me started here.....lol...

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

A bit like randomly picking a nut and bolt - not much chance of them fitting together, lucky if they do.
So maybe tis better to try them for size first - at least you'll be sure of a good fit, at least in the short to medium term. There's always the chance of the thread stripping from the bolt or the nut with extended use.
The most incomprehensible thing about the world is that it is at all comprehensible.
