us pr tax question

Post by kutupret » Thu, 08 Dec 2005 5:40 am

hello everyone,

my first posting here, have been reading through and find this site very helpful!

my question is: i've been offered a job under local package terms and am trying to figure out the usual(if it's worth is or not!). i'm a greencard holder and am working in the us, does anyone know if this also means that i'll fall into the dual-taxation category or is this only for us citizens? if so, then the hiring company failed to mention this to me and i had no clue until i read postings on this site about dual tax. thanks in advance..............

In short, yes you will be subject to dual taxation but with the availability of Income Earned Abroad Exclusion if you qualify (up to USD 80K deductible).

Here is a link to Publication 54 - Tax guide for Citizens & Resident Aliens abroad for further info.
