What is the Best fitness center in Singapore?

Post by L.K. » Thu, 01 Dec 2005 3:09 am

Hi all,

what would you rate as best fitness center on 9-10 areas, possibly with Technogym equipment and perhaps nice sauna and other facilities?
Our stay is less than a year, so the ones requiring permanent membership should be excluded.

What kind fees either monthly or yearly should one be prepared to pay for the best gyms?

Thanks for any tips,
LK

I'll say it all depends on your factors of a "best" gym; like the best car, which can spark a holy war...

My #1 reason was price. After all, all dumbells are born equal. Hot chicks or music or sauna weren't on my list.

I am not sure if it's the best but I go to Fitness First and am quite pleased. Like you, one of the main factors behind me joining was because I didn't know how long I was going to be in Singapore and they offer a membership where you only have to commit for a minimum of 3 months. Though this means the monthly membership is higher than what you would pay if you committed for a year.

I like my gyms not too crowded with good equipment, towels, decent showers, cable TV and most importantly, it has to be CLEAN. Thus, the cheaper gyms are not for me.

I pay almost $145 incl. GST monthly which is, I admit, a little on the high side but I go regularly. It has a sauna and a steam room and the centers at George Street and Raffles Place even have a pool. If price is not an issue, I highly recommend it!
I am as strong as the friends I have, the hairspray I use and the coffee I drink.

I guess this is because of the sales people there who kinda 'nail you on the wall' with their talk.
I go to california as well and enjoy the classes there, esp with the new jacky chan club opened.

But I guess, different individual has different perception of the best gym - why not go to few of them and do comparison before deciding which gym to sign up with.

cheers,
