Good luck finding a camera.. I definitely think it's best that you take the artwork to the shop and do some tests. You should also see if they can display the results on a computer monitor (CRT), as the LCD on the camera will often display the colours slightly incorrectly.

For my 10 cents worth, I recently purchased a Canon IXUS 750 digital camera, and I couldn't be happier! Colour reproduction is great, low light performance excellent, video quality is amazing for a digital camera, and the macros are great. The only thing I miss (from my old Powershot G2) is the ability to manually change the shutter speed (beyond standard ISO).

I've had a Sony before and I wasn't happy with it. Overally, I felt that although the lenses on Sony cameras are great, the actual image reproduction is below par.
