Since you already possess PR, go down to MOE and talk to an officer about the system and the cost.
The system between a normal public school and
International Schools are very different. But if you intend to stay here for awhile, a local secondary school sounds more feasible.
Not too sure about the difference in state education in Aust though. There are a number of schools in the West Coast and Holland area. Do check them out as well as the subjects they have to offer, independant schools like Anglo Chinese School, Singapore Girl's School offer more programs and charge higher fees. Normal neighborhood schools offer standard programs. There are still compulsory subjects to be taken.
Do check out what subjects each school has specifically, if your child wants to study eg, Biology or Accounting. My experience is not all neighborhood schools offer those subjects.
The MOE will provide you with a booklet on the schools in Singapore, and the subjects each school has to offer. Ask them for advice if still in doubt or come back here and ask for opinion anytime.
Good luck!

My husband's company will not be sponsoring our children's education so I'm looking for a school that isn't too expensive yet offer quality education parallel to what they receive in state education in Australia.
I've tried looking on the Ministery of Education Singapore website
www.moe.gov.sg but it doesn't list any costs and I've not got any idea of what the school is actually like. Is there anything like TAFE in Singapore?
I'd be looking for a school on the West Coast, Holland Village or even Orchid Road.
Our decision would be based primaril on costs. I understand that the
Australian International School has a great reputation but I'm worried about the costs.
If anyone could offer some advice and recommendations it would be really helpful.
