ditto above.

No no Jhouse..
Cantonese speaking people/group in this forum is growing...

You have not met the rest of the people as yet, you'll be amazed that there are different nationalities could speak Cantonese but of course not as good as hongkongers espcially the tone, pronunciation maybe choice of words sometimes used in this regions(due to many influences perhaps) is rather different I would say ... and yourself, I've heard that you're a fast learner and doing quite well, am I right

try this one..
"pin pei" :P this one got some of us laughing and teased by hongkongers though and
the correct way of saying it is: "pong pin" - am not good but I've learnt

I agree with EPL,

there are quite a lot of other nationality people that can speak cantonese. People at work speaks cantonese. it's just that they say it in a very old fashion ways. Like talking to a person in the 1960's :P

They are sooo cute!

I'm so mean :P

hey, can I join you guys? I'm Singaporean and I desperately wanna get in touch with my roots!

My grandpa was actually from Canton so that pretty much makes me cantonese by origin. Sadly, my family doesn't really speak it much and I've tried to improve by taking lessons at the clan association and watching TVB serials but there's only so much one can do without using it in daily life.

I'm also doing Wing Chun which is part of my cantonisation process! The only thing missing is actually living or working in HK.

Hi LM,
I tried to compare the difference in chinese words

做工 vs 返工
一溝 vs 一蚊
華語 vs 國語
邊皮 vs 旁邊
擺擺 vs 次次
落水 vs 落雨

For those who cannot read Chinese, sorri! :o
