I've read a lot of stuff in forums, and I'd like to know what you think poetry is.
For me, poetry is more a aural/oral experience than a reading/writing one. Poetry began as the way to remember and pass on the stories central to a society, and I still like the sound play of words and syllables.
And poetry should be universal. I think expressing your personal feelings is only poetry IF in doing so you can also express some universal feeling. If not, it's just a bunch of words.
So whaddya reckon? Am I right or what?
