I've given it a try. Too basic for my tastes, virtually no manual controls. Here's a review:

I recommend looking in Peninsula Plaza, at the City Hall MRT.

Parisilk at Holland Village. The best prices in town, despite the upmarket location. No nonsense, no bargaining (fixed price), no attitude. 6466 6002. They're happy to tell you their price on the phone. Remember to add GST.

Best,

Prices

Post by Scorpion » Thu, 10 Nov 2005 12:44 am

Try to have a look in mustafa center. As their prices are always lower by S$10-25. :o

& Funan IT mall 3rd floor, they have all the latest cam with good prices

Use the websites to get an equote before going down to the shops.

http://www.alanphoto.com.sg

http://www.cathayphoto.com.sg

http://www.mscolor.com.sg.

1st get an equote, print it out. Walk in and ask the price, equote to back up if you don't hear a better price.

Been there, done that, made the mistakes, learnt from them.

This is a myth that way too many people (including yours truly) have fallen victim to. Yes, Mustafa's prices are lower than mainstream retailers like Courts and Harvey Norman. But they're significantly higher than what you'll get at Parisilk. (And no, I have no relationship with them other than a happy repeat customer)

Agree all items may not be cheap compared to other places. I have tried my home appliance equip like DVD, Mixer etc. with other shop. sure mustafa as a good price.

Also checked for some of my mobile products, they are cheaper than the other shops at simlim, lucky plaza, peninsula plaza etc.

On the photo cameras, have compared the Alan photo shop with mustafa, definitely alan photo shop was able to give the lowest quote by more than 20SGD. :)

What on earth do you need their expensive SD reader for? Just connect the camera to your PC directly.

Never ask for a price quote like this..

Ask for the camera price, then ask them whts the free 8) options they come with. SD cards (128mb), leather pouch, mini tripod stand and multi card reader comes with the package if the camera cost > 500SGD.

If you buy from shops like mustafa/courts big players, then you have to go only for the camera ++ other charges extra.

cheers
