At the US Navy Ball. Yes, I had to buy a tuxedo.

But, it was fun. Here is a pic of my 'date' and our car... OK... not the car!

She's a good dancer, by the way.

I bought it in the end... and the arms, and shoulders, and legs. Yes, had to buy one... not much selection available in terms of rental stuff.

So.... if you know of any more black tie affairs...

Thank you, thank you! I should note, just to clear up any misconceptions, that I have been happily married for 27 years, and my 'date' is a dear friend who came to the ball with me so I wouldn't be a singleton. I soon became an accessory to the conversation around the table.

Was the car for the ball only? Lovely! My father-in-law use to collect Rolls, Bentleys, Morgans, etc. and do them up from almost nothing. I really enjoy old stylish cars....among other things!

I should be so lucky... the Rolls was the getaway vehicle for a wedding reception being held at the Fullerton.
