Say something nice!

Postby Wind In My Hair » Thu, 20 Oct 2005 8:18 pm

well there's been a recent spate of posts which were getting a little personal and perhaps leaving a bad taste in some of our mouths. so i thought of starting a little 'care bears' thread if you will, where only nice things are allowed! :D

not sure how to do this without turning it into a mutual admiration club where people just stroke each others' egos. that's not the intent. the idea is to focus on the positives, to choose to believe the best, to give the benefit of the doubt etc.

some may find this idealistic. of course it is. i believe we have the power to shape our world, and we can make the little patch around us a more positive place by BEING positive. so here goes...

i thought the thread on what's after democracy started by baron greenback was refreshing, original and thought-provoking. without criticising the current political norms, he got a few of us to think far into the future on a possible better system. thanks baron!

Yes, I agree with you! Nice post! Like all your posts anyway!

On a bit more serious note, since when do you feel that? I think everything is OK here, of course some people disagree which is quite normal. But I did not see personal attacks as there used to be a few months or weeks ago...

Good thread WIMH.

Well I'm new in Singapore and only a member in the forum since 8th September (so it says over there on the left) and I have already met very many nice people through the forum who I now consider my friends.

And who was it said recently on here something like "strangers are only friends we don't yet know" which I think is a nice quote and a perfect logo for the forum.

Of course, but I already told you, that was a fluke! I won't be playing anymore anyway, otherwise you'll realise I'm only average after all.

And BTW, the game is Poole, billiards (at least in UK) is played on a snooker table with only 3 balls. Is 'billiards' the same as poole in France?

OK, let's get into a NICE technical discussion.

In French we call the game "billard"
Billard Français - also called billard carambole - (French billiard) is what you call "billiard"
Billard Américain (American billiard) is what you call "poole"

We also have
"snooker" which is played with one white ball, 15 red and 6 of different colors
and "pool" which is played with one white ball, 7 red, 7 yellow and one black.

I am very relax, don't worry. And no misunderstanding about your intentions :P
I know you said it was kind. You even said "very kind". That's why I replied it was normal... Oh forget about it, I am nice, so are you!

(Gosh! everybody is going to wonder what happened now... )
