Sorry YF but I think American television so often exhibits a cheap sense of humor.

ever seen Singaporean TV?

which country does not have what you refer to as "a cheap sense of humor"?

so far everywhere I've been there is ample supply of Mediocrity For The Masses, and it gets ratings

To be fair, there's some pretty decent programming on late night. Scrubs, Dead Like Me, Who's Line Is It Anyway, Frasier, and hopefully one day, The Playboy Channel.

Whats wrong with a cheap sense of humor? Coming from an ivy league university I find it quite refreshing in comparison to the pedandic high-brow humor that goes on here. If it makes you laugh I don't see anything wrong with it.

I guess laughing at the pain or discomfort of others is a matter of taste.

Cultural?

Ohhhh taking the moral highground are we? :P

Anyway, the clip did bring a smile, but it was in poor taste. Deliberately choosing a gay guy and making a fool out of him, sheesh!
It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

And to top it all of you two should give one another a Gallic embrace and do some kissy-kissies (three times each cheek!)

Actually, the buzz these days is that between the new younger reform minded French politicians and the French & US common interest in supporting Lebanon vs Syria - maybe things really are thawing. And Vaucluse - i have already offered to buy CD a beer or two - so i think that should suffice.
