Where can i obtain figures on the intellectual disabled?

Hi all,

I am currently doing a case study on the intellectual disabled in Singapore.
I am having a problem in finding the numbers of intellectual disabled in Singapore. Is this confidential (i hope nope

)?

I have tried to Email the MCYS also but no reply till now..Can someone point me to a right place where I can get the data (from article / speech / studies). I only need an approximation of the figures.

Any help / advice will be greatly appreciated.

Dd you try Singapore Statistics?
The last census was in 2000, so they might have something there.

Hi,

Just want to close this thread with some figures provided by the Singstats:

Based on a Straits Times newspaper article, 16 April 2005, Page H5, the
Movement of the Intellectually Disabled Singapore (MINDS) has about
2,400
intellectually disabled people as its clients

Athough its not the data from the whole of Singapore, MINDS is the biggest
organisation in Singapore that serves persons with intellectual
disabilities.

Hope this statistics will benefit some other people who needs them in future
