A nursing home needs volunteers for FLAG day.

Postby Gman75 » Sun, 16 Oct 2005 7:23 am

Man Fut Tong Nursing Home is a 232 bedded Nursing Home which provides professional medical, nursing and rehabilitation care to the needy, frail and ill, regardless of race or religion. More than 75% of the residents are from very low-income households or are destitute. The Home’s main target is to ensure quality of life of residents and wherever possible to integrate them back with their families and with the community

We have currently 53 residents who are "zero paying". They are jointly supported by the MOH (Ministry of Health) & the MFTNH. We need to raise between $8000 to $10,000 annually for each of them alone. This year our FLAG DAY 2005, falls on WEDNESDAY 23 NOVEMBER 2005 - a working day in the 1st week of school holidays. We have no choice on the date as it is thru ballot.

This island-wide charity drive is the only major fund raising event for MFTNH for the year 2005. We commenced preparatory work in Jan 2005 and now have only 2 months to confirm the volunteer numbers. To date we have only secured about 300 student volunteers and we are sincerely hoping that there would be sufficient response to secure at least 1,500 volunteers for the day. We need volunteers aged 14 years and above to assist us in anyone of the following shifts - 8am to 1pm, 12.30pm to 5.30pm and 6pm to 9pm for our Flag Day. Our Collection Centres are placed islandwide in popular venues & shopping centres.

We are eagerly look forward to your support for this event. Please kindly contact MFTNH or Jeremy Tan for any further information or details pertaining to this event at 6368 3301. Detailed information on our Nursing Home is available on our website

Thank you and we appreciate your precious time!
