Is my computer a time bomb ?

Postby Shilo2010 » Mon, 10 Oct 2005 5:48 pm

My computer keeps ticking, three quick ticks with a sapce of about two seconds between sets. Its doing it again, have to re boot.
Has anyone got an idea what it might be ?
Sounds like the tick that you will get between web pages some times.

Hey stranger!

Sounds like it could be possibly your hard drive getting ready to give up the ghost. If not that, no idea.

A mate had the same problem before. Turned out there was a blowfly trapped in the case.

Just stick the box in a bath full of water and drown any flies, beetles or any other gremlins. Will stop the ticking noise for sure :)

Pc of mine did that, couple of years ago. I have to say, it was the beginning of the end for it...it gave up the ghost not long after....don't ask me what it was, just kept getting infected with viruses after and taking forever and ever to connect to sites.

It was a definite click, click and I was scared it was going to blow up.

Got a good deal on a new pc, (Dell) so it got chucked out.

Interesting that you mention morse code;

did you know that some mobile phones (nokia I belive) have a default sms alert that is . . . - - . . . and guess what.....it's SMS in morse code! Don't you just love little titbits like that?

Sms I would guess that you knew that already

A good joke going around lately here in UK.........if you lose your electronic car key and you know someone else with same car, get them to sound the key near their mobile...both have to have same moby too...then put yours near your carlock and hey presto, it'll open......

COURSE...I DID IT AND IT DOESN'T WORK, LOOKED LIKE A REAL PLONKER IN THE CARPARK SHOUTING INTO MOBY AT WORKMATE UP IN WINDOW.....HAHAHA.

Bubbs, try this one, if you find when using your electronic key blipper thingy you have to stand quite close to car, stick the blipper to your head and try it. You will find the range of the blipper increase by quite alot!
