Hi,
We have just got MOM approval (on friday) for a Full Time maid, hired after interview and via a recommendation. The maid came in on Monday (today)and says she is not interested in working !!!
Can you please advise what options I have to release this FDW and hire an interested one? I arranged the transfer of the maid via the agent and signed no agency agreement. i.e. the agent did the paperwork but did not recruit/place the maid. The maid had about 1 month between interview, release from previous employer, the filing of the papers and approval but she always gave us the indication that she is keen to work?
Will appreciate hearing from you.

You have got the transfer approval through but normally the MOM letter gives a transfer date when the transfer takes effect. If you haven't reached that stage yet, I suggest you contact the MOM and the agency immediately and let them know what has happened and halt the transfer. The MOM staff are usually quite helpful although it takes a bit of time to work your way through the queueing system. If she is already transferred to you, you are responsible for her ie she should be living with you and you either have to transfer her to another employer or cancel her WP and arrange for her to fly home if that is what she wants. In any event, you don't want an unwilling employee so best to sort it out with the MOM and start again.

Hiring maid or nanny

Do you think is more advisable to hire a maid to take care of your child or send your child to nanny to take care?

It'd definitely be more convenient to get a live-in helper, but it will probably make your child more dependent on him or her. Not to say that he/she...
