Landed PR?

Post by b_laise » Wed, 05 Oct 2005 3:15 pm

I'm Singaporean, and my boyfriend & I are currently living in the Netherlands. I'm not working but he works in IT. We're planning to move back to Singapore but are kinda stuck as it's hard to find a job for him that doesn't say "for Singaporeans or PRs only". A friend mentioned this Landed PR thingy which I hope we can gain some advice on from this forum. Any help would be great!

Hi there,

I am Dutch, married to a Singaporean woman, having lived in The Netherlands and now back in Singapore, me being a PR here.

We didnot apply for a landed PR for Singapore for myself here, but applied from out of Holland. At the Singapore embassy in Brussels (or the consulate in Rotterdam), they will assist you in putting together all the needed information and filling in all papers.

I got my PR within 6 weeks after applying. Basically you need to send in all personal information on education, work history, income, taxes etc. Everything with (officially translated) copies etc.

Also, it would help if you as a Singaporean would already come to Singapore and get a job. If that job would provide you enough income to support both of you, his chances for the PR will significantly increase. This is what we did, my wife already found a job back in Singapore.

And another suggestion: It does help to get married first here...

From the feedback we have gotten from the ICA here, it is all about what the foreigner, married to the Singaporean, can bring in to add value for Singapore: skills, income and children...

If you want more information on my experiences with the PR, just send me a PM.

Eric

TRYING TO GET A SINGAPORE PR

Post by Iamschpartacus » Fri, 01 Dec 2006 6:11 pm

Hi there,
I was hoping someone may be able to answer some questions I have involving obtaining PR in Singapore. Alright, here is my situation.

I am a 23 year-old American living in Melbourne, Australia. I am currently undertaking a Master in Multimedia and am due to complete my course by June next year.

My mother is a Singaporean citizen (living in Australia with me) and in the past I have visited Singapore on many occasions as we have plenty of relatives there. My girlfriend of one year also lives in Singapore and we are planning to marry.

My plan is to visit Singapore July of next year and marry my soon-to-be fiancee. What should I expect going through all red tape with the ICA and ROM (procedures, etc.) and what are my chances of obtaining PR?

These are some of the things I think that may work in my favor (correct me if I am wrong)...

-A masters degree
-Plenty of local Singaporean relatives

Thanks so much for your time.

Regards,
Ted Dore
