Places to stay in Krabi

Post by KY » Mon, 26 Sep 2005 4:20 pm

Hi guys,

Has anyone been to Krabi yet? If so, could you suggest a few places by the beach I could look at. Ao Nang Sea Front Thai Resort & Phra-Nang Inn are two of the places I have checked out, but if there are any others that u have in mind, do lemme know....also, any other beaches we cld head out to for like a day trip or something?

Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

The Tipa resort is supposed to be quite nice . . . and the Krabi Thai Vilage Resort was very nice.

Koh Lanta is still quite pleasant for diving/snorkelling and Phi Phi has been rebuilt to a certain extent - enough to go diving/snorkelling.

We're heading off to Krabi as well for two weeks next week, staying at a different one though.

Hi Vaucluse,

Thanks for the reply....both the places you mentioned, are they close to the beach?? My hubby can't swim, so no snorkelling or any other underwater activites for him....he just prefers lazing by the beach.

Thanks

Hello KY . . . .allow me a joke here - KY and a lazy husband . . . = Australian!

Ok, sorry.

Yes, they are - a little stroll and you're there. Tip - why not have your hubby learn to swim, enchant him with tales of how beautiful it is underwater. (Umm, underwater and still breathing)

The lazy husband part is right.....he wants me to choose a place, book everything n if anything goes wrong....well, u know who's to blame. As for learning to swim, god knows I've tried, he's just not interested, for a person who loves the water as much as he does, I am surprised...

Hey, how u guys going to Krabi?? Taking a package tour or going on ur won?? N which airline?? I only found Tiger Airways, any others with a direct flight??

The most cost-effective way:

Book a package with a good hotel in Phuket - but only book a 'Stay 3 nights, pay for 2' or lesser time, then do some surfing and find the right place for you in Krabi. (We're staying at the Club Andaman for two nights, includes spas and food etc . . . Quite reasonable)

That way you will have a few days in Phuket, as few as One day, catch a bus or whatever to Krabi, spend some time there and catch a bus/whatever to the airport in Phuket on your return.

Flying with SilkAir.

I am like you hubby--can't swim. I grew up in the midwest USA, where there wasn't any place nearby to learn to swim. My dad was a farmer, mom didn't drive, so it wasn't easy to get to a pool. I have tried at least 3 times to learn by taking lessons, but never succeeded. I will get into the pool or ocean, but my feet must be able to touch the ground. Maybe we should get together--my hubby and you can go off enjoy the snorkeling, etc. and your hubby & I can enjoy the drinks by the beach with our books!
Just kidding! I know it has to be frustrating. ](*,)
