Moving to Singapore

Post by srinivashello » Fri, 16 Jul 2004 9:35 pm

Hi All,
I am a software engineer and am being offered a salary of SD3400 after tax in Singapore. There are no other benefits stated...as the salary is all inclusive. I am 30, single and would like to know what are the expenses and cost of living in Singapore like.
Thanks in advance.

After tax!? That's an unusual little item, since in Singapore taxes are not automatically deducted, they're paid out the next year. Your employer should definitely also be paying for medical coverage, since otherwise you'll have nothing at all to fall back on if you get sick.

That said, S$3400 is not a great salary, but it's enough to make you solidly middle class. This topic has been discussed to death, look around a little...
