Your computer rings? I don't get it...

Does that mean Skype won't work (no one can call you on it, I mean) if you don't leave your computer on all day?

Yes... Skype is voice over IP so you need an IP address in order to take calls. That can be your computer or you can buy a telephone that plugs into the USB port.

My computer is alive except when I am asleep, so it works for me.
