Am I the only one not Skyping?

Postby beenhere10years » Mon, 19 Sep 2005 4:29 pm

Can I have a show of hands of people who are using Skype? I feel like I'm in the stone age...
When you go in for a job interview, I think a good thing to ask is if they ever press charges.

I have it, used it once, haven't gone back to it. So you aren't alone.
It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

I am using it now and then, leave it more up to my friends in Holland to decide of they wanna skype or call the old fashioned way (calling from Holland to Singapore is 3 eurocents a minute...).

Sapphire only got a mobile phone a few months back, so she is still getting used to a lot of modern technology it seems...

Found it to be very good over Starhub broadband. I'm primarily using it to tal to my father who is on the other end of a bad satellite link in australia and we get pretty good quality all in all...

Also signed up for Skype Out, found to be good value.. cost me about 50 cents euro for 20 minutes to Australia

Installed it & never used it - with voice over IP like MSM messenger there is more chance of finding a friend using that than skype.

you are not alone

Use it all the time. It costs me US 2.3 cents per minute to call to almost any phone in the US. I also have inward Skype. It costs me Euro 30 per year to have a local number in Houston, Texas where my family and friends live. They call a local number, it rings on my computer.

Get an occassional bad connection but with the latest software, quality is much better.

Use it all the time, even for work, across countries and locally. The voice quality (skype-skype, not skypeout) is WAY WAY better than standard POTS (plain old telephone system). SkypeOut calls to the US have been excellent too. Highly recommended.

Mainly, it's really cheap to call all over the world. Call quality is good. And it's easy to use.

SO is that Skype-Skype or Skype out?

Friend of mine in London inssits that he can call my landline for free if I set up Skype. Yay? Nay?

(And, yes I'm loathe to check out the site.....if I do, I might *actually* install it, and NEVER get my butt out of this chair ever again! :???: )

No, he cannot call your landline for free. He can only call your computer, or if you sprung for an IP enabled phone, he could call that.

If you have Skype Out, you can call most any phone number in the world real cheap, from your computer. Or, he could get a local Skype number in Singapore, and you could make a local call to him which would cause his computer to ring.

If you have Skype In, you can buy a phone number in many countries and cities that others can call as a local number. When they do, it rings up your computer.
