Extension of visit pass
Extension of visit pass
I arrived at Changi Airport a few days ago and got a 30 day visit pass from the officer. I intended to stay for a month in Singapore but after i went to Malacca for a day visit and back to Singapore, I got a 14 day pass. This effectively shortened my original stay by 1.5 weeks. I will be going to Batam for a day sightseeing tour next week. Is it possible to request for a 30 day pass instead of a 14 day pass at the immigration counter when i arrive at the cruise centre? thanx

I think you should contact ICA. They are usually pretty flexible in granting extensions, assuming all else is in order.

You'll only be able to get 14 days coming into Singapore by sea. If you would like to get a social pass extention without going out of the country again you'll need to go to the ICA and request for an extention. If you go in the morning, in most cases you'll get it done and over with in the morning otherwise will need to go back and pick up your passport the following working day.
thanks for the reply. However i am on a working trip to singapore and will be occupied on wkdays and saturday mornings, leaving no opportunity for me to go down to the ICA for the extensions..i onli take chance of the wkends for my tours.i came across this website http://www.nathancrooks.com/passport.htm
The person managed to get a 90day pass coming from bintan on the image with the stamp dated 9 july. How is that possible? Thanks all! =)

The US and Austraila, at least, have some sort of agreement with Singapore. I travel on my American passport. When I entered the country I got 90 days. I had gone to Bintan and Batam numerous times, and got 90 days stamped each time I came back on the ferry(usually the same day), effectively stringing out my length of stay by a couple of months... even though I didn't need it. So, the 90 days depends upon your country on origin. And although the immigration officer _could_ stamp 14 days, it is up to him.
It seems to me you have three options.
Find the time to go get it straigtened out.
Wait until your two weeks are up and take another boat trip.
Do the same as above, only earlier and explain that you came in on 30 days and need the time.
Be prepared to show your return airline ticket 30 days out in the future.

Brits get 30 days, and I have golfed with Brits who got 30 days stamped into their passports upon arrival at the Tanah Merah ferry terminal.frostbite wrote:Thanks for the info. I think I will take the third option. I am travelling with a UK passport. When I go on a visa run to Indonesia, what are the entry requirements? Do I need to get a visa prior to arrival in Batam or Bintan?
Indonesia uses a "visa on arrival" system at both Bintan and Batam. The easy way is to book a golf game at either Bintan or Batam, and the golf club handles all the paperwork.
The other way is to buy a ticket over and obtain an Indonesian embarkation form... very similar to the Singapore one. When you arrive at either island, you will have a short wait to buy your visa for $10. It is good for three days.
Then, on the way back through Sing immigration, it will be important to show the immigration officer your original 30 day stamp plus an airline ticket. You may get another 30 days... for sure you will get 14. Just be real pleasant.
