beauty salon vs aestheticism

are beauty salon as aesthetically portrayed as they are in their tv ads? i'm referring to a recent visit whereby the beautician was pushing too aggressively on a package and giving very little detail on the product/treatment. i gathered this's just another hard-core seller.

Could there be fakes? because I noticed the prices are much lower than retail some are like 1/4 of the prices of retail.
