Cost of living

Post by Argie » Fri, 09 Sep 2005 12:45 am

I would like to know how much it cost living in singapore, besides renting a place. We are a couple of 26 years old, no kids. looking to live in a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment/condo.

Food for 2
Internet bill
Phone bill
Electricity bill
Expenses
Taxi
Leisure (cinema, restaurant, etc)
Taxes
Etc.

Thanks in advance, best wishes to all

Here's our living expenses. Me and wife are also quite young and no kids.

Food for 2 - $1000 (lower of you will cook at night)
Internet - $58 (SingTel's 1500kbps) + $50 one-time set up fee
Phone bill (mobile) - $29 (SingTel's classic) x 2 = $58 (Not sure about the one-time fee)
Electricity/water/gas bill - around $200
Expenses - like???
Taxi - depends on where you live and where you go to.
Leisure (cinema, restaurant, etc) - cinema: $10-20; restaurant: from $10 - $50 per meal
Taxes - income tax: very small; GST for goods: 5%
Cable TV - from $30 - $80 depends on how many channels you like

Everything largely depends on your lifestyle. We are filipinos living simple lives.. we rent a small private apartment, take bus or mrt to office, no partying or going to bars, we cook whenever possible or go to hawker center instead of fastfood/restaurants, so cost of living is relatively low for us.

Thanks pal, that help me a lot, any more info welcome. The job offer is at the Airport, pilot, probably will use the taxi 10 times a month for what Ive been told. I will also try to rent something near the MRT and fast to the airport. I will have to study a map of singapore to see which area is best.
I plan to have a similar lifestyle like the one I have at home but I will be able to save some money. Some cinema and restaurants, thats all.
Sorry, with expenses I mean apartment expenses.
