How do you record a T.V Show using laptop?

Post by koyuli » Mon, 05 Sep 2005 8:47 am

Hi,

Anyone can help to me on this?
I received this explanation but I don't understand a thing at all..
All greek to me..
Of course, if you have another method of doing, do share with me..

Thanks..

" you either need a tv card or a capture card for that.
or you got a good DVD or buildin recordr which just
record into rawvideo, that's possible as well.
you will need the equipment to record from a tv
source.

you can get a tv box to connect to your laptop. but it will be a price line as its a stand alone device and much powerful for my opinion.
the cheaper alternative I can suggest is to get a pcmcia for your laptop, a capture card and connect to your tv.
but of course it will be a manual recording if you know what I mean. "

Man if you didn't understand that, I'm not entirely sure how to help you.

Try telling us the model of your laptop, etc.

Sorry, I could not resist...

A customer called up the company that made her hand-held scanner, complaining that it wasn't scanning correctly. After several minutes of hardware and software questions, the tech asked what exactly the person did to scan. "Well," she said, "I simply put it on the side of my head and drag it down." (And she wonders why the "brain scanner" can't find anything!)

Meet again..

I am having a Acer laptop..
Does it have got to do with the recording? Well.. am in office now, not sure which model am I holding..it is rather new..

Ok.. then can you list down what should I buy to get this done?
And maybe the estimated amt. I should be looking at..
Don't want to get exorted..

First of all, check your owner's guide to see if it has a built in TV tuner. If it does, your problem's solved. Until you try to figure out how to actually use it.

If not, you can try Winfast USB TV Tuner. It's basically an external TV tuner box you can plug into your notebook or PC. Not too sure about PCMCIA cards as I haven't been keeping up to date with the latest and greatest. Be warned this will probably not help you leech PayTV. Check Hardware Zone for pricing.

Better give up the thought of trying on my own...

Consider me that "Lady Nemesis of All Electrical and Electronic"..

Thanks again.. especially for the patience..

Big Hi, Banana,

Well... things are not looking bad..
Came back from Challenger..

Had brought my L.P along... According to them, I only have to buy a T.V box.. nothing else..

They only have one brand.. Oops.. forgotten name already..
Can only remember begining with 'A..'..
Another brand out of stock begining with 'Pina..'??

Ok, now comes the question, any brand or specification up for recomendation before I buy $165 for the 'A...' brand??

ADS and Pinnacle?

To be perfectly honest, I have no idea. But less than $200 for something like this sounds decent. I'd ask the salesperson to test out the item on the laptop prior to purchase though.

Buying a DVD recorder with built-in HDD. The can transfer the MPG2 files to your laptop / PC and convert to XviD or DivX.
