Electrical Goods in Singapore

We are moving from Sydney to Singapore.

Are there any issues with bringing personal (ie kids friendly) collection of TV's/Video's/DVD's from Australia to Singapore? :D

Hi,
Officially, I believe the answer is still 'Yes'. (Officially) You need to get any video medium (e.g. tape, VCD or DVD) reviewed, and the charge is (or was, anyway) about S$10 each. Ouch!
Unofficially (and I never told you this, ok? ) it's unusual for them to check, unless something else has triggered their interest in you.
There is perhaps nowadays a 'middle ground'. When I first moved here, I just took the chance, bought in a large number of videos without having them checked and had no problems at all. When we left and came back last year, the moving company had us make a list of all the individual titles, and once again there were no problems and we didn't pay anything.
So, bottom line, check with your moving company. Perhaps the rules changed.

We bought over a bunch of DVD's and video tapes from US when we moved here 5-ish years ago, and highlighted the fact on the packing notices. Made a list of all the movie titles as well, on a paper inside the box, so that I could see if any went MIA along the way. Box was never even opened. As Yutenji has said, I think they look at the whole lot and decide if things look dodgy before they start tearing things apart.

Ah yes, good reminder, we did that too.
Good luck
