Dealing with Depression

Post by Down and Downer » Fri, 26 Aug 2005 10:32 am

Hi, I'm struggling with bad depression. I have suffered it in the past and was on medication but didn't like the effects it had. I'm looking for some other cures.

Anyone got any suggestions or recommendations on what they have tried?

Do you know the roots of the depression? Medication without counselling therapy is not the best way to deal with depression if the origin of the problem is psychological.

People may tell u that u look different from others...
People may tell u to snap out of depression.....
People will tell u to go for a talk with a friend to pour out all ur troubles..

But at the end of the day, let me put in layman terms There is a chemical imbalance in ya brain cells & the the cells are not transmitting the messages the way they are supposedly to.

To seek relief of your current symptoms, i would strongly suggest that you would consult a psychiatrist for a review on your current psychological status.

He would be the best person to advise you whether to start on medication or counselling or a combination of both.

If you like to consult a psychiatrist in Pte Practice, i can recommend
Dr. Brian Yeo
Tel 6887 3378/9

Dr. Lim Yun Chin
6311 1111

If you r finanically constrainned, u can go to a govt hospital.
Dr Chua Hong Choon (IMH)
Tel 638920000
Dr Nicholas Chew (TTSH)
Tel 62566011

I think this issue is getting more and more common.. Firstly, do you able to sleep well? If yes, then it is not as bad.. Have you tried holistic treatment?? Like going back to the nature.. aromatheraphy ..

It can help to relax your mind, aids in sound sleep, calms emotions, uplift spirit, ease agitation, soothes mental stress...

Doctors nowaday recommend this form of treatment.. coz it basically has its effectiveness..

Most importantly interact with positive people and keep everything cool! Hope this helps! All the best! :D
