Mosquitoes in Singapore

Post by Okyakusan » Mon, 22 Aug 2005 9:35 pm

I visited a friend in Singapore once whose veranda was part of the living room. When I asked him how he could live with a permanently open window like that, he explained that they were too high up for mosquitoes to reach them. He said mosquitoes could only fly five stories. Is this true? Has anyone else experienced mosquito-free life at high-rise levels? If so, at what story? Also, I know the Singapore government has been actively trying to eradicate mosquitoes. Are they still a problem anyway? Thanks in advance for your help.

Don't know about the five story story but I live on the first floor of my semi detached, spend tons of time on my covered porch and almost never see or feel a mosquito... very rare.

We live on the fifth floor and very occassionally get mozzies. If you are really worried you can get nets installed which will keep the little suckers away
